Every tiny atom in your body came from a star that exploded long before you

were born.

I will share a few thoughts with you for this coming new born year, 2025. The Grateful Dead put it this way: “What a Long Strange Trip It’s Been.” You ask, “What is “IT” here?” The year 2024? The last few years since the pandemic? Since the Industrial Revolution? And as my wife likes to say, “Ever since we hominids came down from the trees and moved about the Savanah on our two legs. We became bipedal, and things have become stranger than ever.”

As the calendar turns to the newest year, I am reflecting on the reality that the current moment is the end point of the entirety of all existence, and that each of us is a microcosmic pinpoint of that entirety. I am here trying to wrap my head around how we each walk the path this moment and ongoing as star matter particles of the whole and interconnected. My big dream is that each of us is increasingly growing into our most authentic human selves. I will share here my ongoing question, “What is my authentic self?”

As the years deepen, I find myself becoming  a unique eccentricity, increasingly. At least, that is the impression I ’take’ from others near me! I muse and wonder where the fine line is between craziness and wisdom, and what it is to cruise along that continuum.

Continuing with my reflection, I am also reminded of Antonio Machado’s great capturing of the process of life:

Traveller, the path is your tracks
And nothing more.
Traveller, there is no path
The path is made by walking.
By walking you make a path
And turning, you look back
At a way you will never tread again
Traveller, there is no road
Only wakes in the sea.”

Shalom to you all,

Avraham
